British U23 Finn initiative is stepping stone to international success

A new youth initiative from the British Finn class has been established to enable aspiring young sailors make the transition from local fleets to international competition by providing a range of training and funding opportunities. This past week the GAC Pindar sponsored U23 squad have been training at the Weymouth & Portland Sailing Academy, ahead of next month’s U23 Finn World Championship in Aarhus, Denmark.

Olympic hopefuls, past, present and future, feature in April 2016 edition of FINNFARE

Josh Junior, featured on the cover of the April 2016 edition of FINNFARE, is fast becoming the most successful New Zealand Finn sailor of the last generation and one of the brightest talents in the class at the moment. After a string of top results this season, including his first ever major European regatta win at the Princesa Sofia in Palma he is still hoping for selection to go to his first Olympics in Rio.

Josh Junior claims Finn gold after challenging week in Palma

Josh Junior (NZL) has sealed his first ever European regatta win and his first ever major Finn regatta win with a fifth place finish in the medal race at the 47th Trofeo Princesa Sofia IBEROSTAR to take the gold by 27 points. Giles Scott (GBR) wins the silver and Tapio Nirkko (FIN) the bronze. The medal race was won in great style by Zsombor Berecz (HUN)

Giles Scott (GBR) and Josh Junior (NZL) are locked together at the top of the scorecard after the fourth day of racing for Finns at the 47th Trofeo Princesa Sofia IBEROSTAR. Tapio Nirkko (FIN) moves up to third. Race wins went to Pieter-Jan Postma (NED) and Scott.
