Between November 27 and 30, Buenos Aires hosted the Finn Class South American Championship, held at Yacht Club Centro Naval Olivos. One of the class’s most traditional events—contested since 1964—the championship brought together 16 boats and sailors from Brazil, Chile, and Argentina.
Weather conditions lived up to expectations, with predominantly moderate to strong winds from the East and South sectors, delivering highly technical racing and demanding a high level of physical fitness from the competitors.
Brazilian sailor Pedro Lodovici, of Yacht Club Ilhabela, claimed the South American title after winning five of the eight races and securing the gold with just 10 points in the overall standings. His consistency throughout the series, in conditions shaped by the passage of a cold front, proved decisive.
The runner-up position also went to Brazil. Cristiano Ruschmann, from BL3 Ilhabela Sailing School, won one race and finished in the top three in seven of the eight races, ensuring a Brazilian one-two on the podium. Third place went to Argentine sailor Fernando Saux, from YCCN (Yacht Club Centro Naval).

After the win, Pedro Lodovici celebrated the result and highlighted the technical nature of the racecourse and the quality of the organization:
“It was a spectacular week, with predominantly moderate and strong winds due to the arrival of a cold front, on a very technical and challenging racecourse. Yacht Club Centro Naval and the Argentine Fleet are to be congratulated for the impeccable organization and excellent race management. I’m very happy and honored by the win, and especially pleased to see the Finn Class active and well supported in South America—a clear sign of strength, renewal, and a strong future for our fleet,” he said.
The championship was held with the support of the Argentine Yachting Federation and Yacht Club Centro Naval.
