The following letter was sent to World Sailing on March 31 to recommend that if the Mixed Offshore Keelboat is rejected for Paris 2024, then the tenth event at the 2024 Olympic Games should be the Mixed One Person event, using the Finn as men's equipment and the Europe as the women's equipment. After competing in the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne, Didier Poissant stopped Finn sailing for 40 years, but returned at the age of 73 in 1996 when the Finn World Masters first came to La Rochelle. Since then he has been a youthful inspiration for Finn sailors worldwide, sailing the Finn well into his 90s.

Joan Cardona has won the Lanzarote Olympic Winter Regatta, held by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife at Marina Rubicón from January 21-24. The competition attracted a group of some of the best Finn sailors in the world to Lanzarote, to race in a fleet of 23 boats from 17 countries.
